Imagine: Sore butt from spinning + 9 hour flight… Getting a good piriformis stretch in an airplane lavatory is really difficult.

Not sure I'll be able to walk tomorrow...
Since winter is approaching and there are real seasons with snow and everything here, I decided to run less and instead introduce some cross-training for the next couple of months. Sunday pool and Wednesday bike. Good plan, right?
Meet Biggi the Teuton, spinning instructor. She looked quite harmless. Tiny, blonde hair, and baby blue eyes. But OMG, she’s the devil. 5 minutes into the class I...

mar-kicksass asked: Hey! I'm enjoying your posts but want more "about!" So you are married to the programmer and you moved to which city in Germany? When did you move? I'm so jealous, after my 2 week visit for the marathon I would love to be living there. I don't think I have a transferable job though! :) What do you do for a living? I'm a vet. Love your Dr. No pic!!! :) ...

Old habits die hard
I’m having a rough day. So, to make myself feel better I went to the drugstore to buy pastries (actually the 24h gas station, stores close so early here). In a dirty track suit. Coffee cup in hand. Talking to the programmer, very emotional.
Public craziness was normal in California. Here, I really should tone it down to a level that’s acceptable for Europeans. I’m sure the...

The programmer is filling out the online health test for the Berlin Marathon registration: ‘Did you ever fall because of dizziness?’ - ‘Hey 007runner, do you think this includes the last time I was at the Oktoberfest?’

I just signed up for the Berlin Marathon next September!
Note to the programmer: You wanna join this insanity? Or carry my stuff and take pictures? Are you even reading this?

Milestone!
When I updated my training log today I noticed something: 501.83 miles total!
Last May I got the Garmin (best present ever) and started tracking my miles. I had taken up running just a couple of weeks earlier. A friend had talked me into doing a 5k - horse racing and beer afterwards, who says no to that. I never really ran before that, I’m not athletic. But since I didn’t want to...

San Francisco Marathon registration is open! →
I had a blast doing the Half in SF this summer. It’s a pity that I live a (very expensive) 12-hour flight away now. One can dream…

This morning I was angry. Angry about work, about being forced to take a stand for something I don’t support wholeheartedly. Angry about being made to feel like a fool. In the end, angry about being angry.
This morning I ran. I ran at dawn. I ran - heart pounding, cold air burning in my lungs. I ran and felt alive.
Maybe I can use the anger to make myself stronger.

There is an itch in runners.
– Arnold Hano
Rest day today, I have ants in my pants. Already assembled furniture, cleaned, did laundry. Still restless.
I guess I should be thankful for the feeling and remember it the next morning when I just want to stay in bed and putting on my running shoes seems impossible.
Saturday in the Sun
7.7 miles with the programmer today. My legs still were a bit tight from the race but overall it was a great run.
We went to a little lake right outside of the city. Crisp fall weather, 50º, windy, you definitely felt the chill. Still we saw some nudists bathing (crazy people - there is a whole part of the shore reserved for seamless tanning, very popular here).
This route actually was one of...
