50 stunning Olympic moments →
Great collection from the Guardian: From Paula Radcliffe’s heartbreak, to the controversy surrounding Florence Griffith Joyner, and the epic 1908 marathon.
My personal favorites though are the pictures of swimmer Mark Spitz. 7 gold medals and 7 world records, wow — and an AWESOME mustache:

Other things my Garmin calendar is telling me
Last strength training was 11 days ago, oops. Only reason I went today is to then have dinner at the Italian place right next to the gym afterwards.
And yes, I put all my exercise into the Garmin calendar. OCD.

NOOOOO
WTF.
10 pm — one banana left. 5 am — no banana left.
Just great, like it’s not hard enough running 7 miles at the crack of dawn, now I’ll have to do it without a proper breakfast.
WTF!!!

Runner's relativity theory
Tomorrow 7 miles are on my schedule. ‘7 miles, ugh’ has been popping up in my mind all day, usually accompanied by a feeling of weariness.
7 miles is only one mile more than 6, duh. But this one mile makes a huge difference for me. 6 miles is my comfort distance — not so short that I don’t find a rhythm, not so long that I can’t easily manage it.
So, I think I might have...

Back to reality
The weekend was wonderful, a city full of athletes. Watching the triathlon gave me goosebumps, so obviously now I wanna do one too.
First the marathon, one thing after the other. Unlimited time and energy, wouldn’t that be nice?

Hamburg, respect
Stepping out of the station:
The first thing I saw was a Nike store.
The second thing a Runners’ Point.
The third a bakery.

I bailed on strength training tonight
The reasons are manifold. But there’s only one cause.
Too lazy.

Who's your look-alike? →
This is kinda fun and plenty silly. Upload a picture of yourself and this face recognition app tells you who you resemble. So, according to the results I look like:
Justin Bieber (ouch)
Katie Holmes
Lilly Allen
Two comments:
A) Where on the list is my Doppelgänger, Ryan Hall?
B) It’s probably time to get a new haircut.

Training motivation
The last couple of days I’ve been tired, getting up and out the door felt like a TASK and not like a natural habit. That’s normal, you might say. Just keep going. Think about the goal.
But pushing through is about what I did before I got injured in the spring. And I started a new job two weeks ago. So, I think I need a different strategy this time around. After this morning’s...

I’ll see your oven opening cats and raise you a garage door opening cat. Not sure how he does it but he ends up in there on a nightly basis.

Domestic burst
The programmer has decided to ‘fix the apartment’ today. Among other things, he rearranged the kitchen cabinets.
I wonder how long it’s gonna take until I feed the cats granola and prepare a bowl of kibble for myself. Eat more protein — isn’t that what all the diets are telling you?
